Statuses
What a storage account's status means.
Status
A storage account is ready when its server is ready, its volume is attached and its endpoint has an address. The status is brought up to date about every 30 seconds.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Creating | The account is new and its server has not been set up yet. |
| Updating | The server is starting, restarting after a change, or not ready. A server that cannot start stays here. |
| Running | The server is ready, its volume is attached and its endpoint has an address. |
| Degraded | The server is ready, but its volume is not attached or its endpoint has no address yet; or the platform could not set the account up, for example its identity, and keeps retrying. |
Running does not mean the certificate is issued yet: an account on a new hostname can be Running while its certificate is still being issued, and HTTPS clients see a certificate error until it is.
When an account stays in Updating
An account that stays Updating has a server that does not become ready — for example because
it cannot be scheduled on a node or keeps restarting. The account's Operations tab shows the
changes that are in progress. If it does not recover, ask your platform administrator to look at
the Deployment s3sa-<account> in the resource group's namespace.
