Statuses
What a static web app's status, its deployments' phases and its certificate status mean.
Site status
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Creating | The site has nothing to serve yet. |
| Packaging | A deployment is being packaged. A site that already serves keeps serving the previous deployment meanwhile. |
| Deploying | A new deployment or a routing change is rolling out. |
| Running | The site serves on its address. |
| Degraded | The site serves, but not everything you asked for: the last deployment failed, a change — such as new routing or an earlier deployment you chose to serve — did not start, or its address is not ready yet. After a failed deployment or change, the previous one keeps serving. A deployment whose packaging failed is retried about every five minutes — see What a deployment does. |
| Error | The first deployment failed, so nothing serves, or the site's pods cannot start, cannot be scheduled or cannot pull their image. |
| Stopped | The site is stopped; its replicas are 0. |
Browse is offered while the site is Running or Degraded.
Deployment phases
The phases on the Deployments tab describe packaging a deployment.
| Phase | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Packaging | The repository is being cloned, checked and packaged into an image. |
| Complete | The image was built; the site rolls it out. |
| Failed | Packaging failed. The deploy logs and the Message column say why; the site keeps serving what it served before. The platform packages the same source again about five minutes later, as a new deployment, until one succeeds. |
| Superseded | A newer deployment started before this one finished. |
Certificate
Certificate, on the Overview tab and next to Custom domain, is about the site's hostname: the custom domain when there is one, otherwise the platform address.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Issued | The certificate is issued and served. |
| Being issued | The certificate is not issued yet — usually because the hostname does not resolve to the platform yet, or because issuing is still in progress. This is normal for a few minutes after you set a custom domain. |
| Hostname in use by another resource | Another resource already serves this hostname, so the site is not served on it. It still answers on its platform address. |
| Unknown | The platform has not reported on the certificate yet, usually just after a change. |
