The question mark in the header opens the help menu. Its Help item opens the Help page, at https://portal.example.com/help: guides for working with this platform, filled in with this installation's own details. Everyone can open it; it needs no permission.

Help topics also turn up in the header search. The product documentation itself is in the documentation panel, behind the book icon.
What's new
After the platform has been upgraded, the portal shows What's new in this version once: the highlights of the new release, each with Read more links that open the documentation panel. Close it with Got it, Esc or the cross, and it stays closed until the next upgrade; your settings remember which release you have seen. What's new in the help menu opens it again. A release without highlights shows nothing after the upgrade, and neither does your first sign-in: the portal only notes the release you start on, so the first What's new you see is the next upgrade's.
